Dewsbury race details - 05/12/21
Here's the details of this year’s Dewsbury XC on 5th December at 10am:
RACE HQ is at Wheatley Park, Hagg Lane, Mirfield, WF14 8HE.
PARKING: as in previous years, car sharing is highly recommended. There is limited parking at race HQ. However, there are post race refreshments available at the Navigation Tavern (https://www.navigationtavern.co.uk/) so for those of you who will be going there (or those who cannot get into the car park) you should park on the roads around Station Road, Lowlands Road, Back Station Road and Hopton New Road which is a 5 minute walk to the start. There will be marshalls on site to direct you to the start from Station Road.
FACILITIES: the Navigation Tavern have kindly agreed to allow racegoers to use their toilets before the race. Racegoers are welcome to go to the Navigation after the race for refreshments, and we understand there will be an outside fire to help you warm up. Please ensure that any muddy footwear is removed before and after the race.
There will be some portaloos at the start area but there will be no changing facilities.
As with all other races this year, there will be no water at the finish, so please ensure you bring a drink with you.
THE ROUTE: the route is an almost flat (may not be true) 4.8 mile route. A route will be posted shortly. The eagle eyed of you may notice that we have had to alter the course slightly since 2019 which has resulted in less climbing (sorry about that).
The course will be muddy after the recent snow. As the route goes through Hagg Wood, and following Storm Arwen there may be some fallen branches, so take care. When the recce was done, there were areas which had dense areas of fallen leaves, which makes it very difficult to see where you are putting your feet. We ask that you all take extra care when going through those areas.
Runners will be going through farmers fields, and have been warned that there may be some cows roaming around. If you see any cows we’d suggest you mooo-ve around them. The local riding stables are aware of the event so there should not be any horses on the course, but keep an eye out for big galloping things.
Finally, as per previous events we have a cut off time of 35 minutes to reach the 2 mile marker. Anyone who does not get to the marker within that time will be re-directed to the start.
We can’t wait to see you all on Sunday. We hope you "enjoy" the race on Sunday.

Baildon race details - 07/11/21
The new season is almost here and as current Champions, Baildon Runners, are delighted to host the first race on Sunday 7th November.
The race HQ is Baildon Rugby Club, Jenny Lane, Baildon BD17 6RS
With the increase in the number of runners we ask that you please, please please car share. There is limited residential parking near the Rugby club as well as a small car park at the club. Please do not block any driveways.
There is also a small car park at the Golf Club, further residential parking in the area behind and another small car park on the right, past the cattle grid. There are a few public car parks in the village centre, a short walk away. Please see attached map.
The Rugby clubhouse will be open early for number collection from your Club Rep. Please arrive in good time.
The race starts at 10.30am and is the same as 2019 on the beautiful Baildon Moor, near Baildon Golf Club which is a 5-minute jog from our Rugby Club HQ. Trail shoes will be fine unless we get a lot of rain before the race where a better grip would be advantageous.
Check out the course on https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/4201498071
The start will again run up the side of the 18th golf fairway, and although the Golf Club are also aware of this, we anticipate golfers will not have reached the 18th by 10.30am.
They will however be using the nearby 1st tee and we ask that you respect our good friends at the Golf Club doing their chosen sport and keep away from that area.
There are limited changing facilities (usually for 30 rugby players!) with post-race drinks in the Rugby clubhouse. Please remove/change your muddy running shoes. There will also be a raffle (we welcome any donations) and the race results announcements.
A catering van and a coffee van will also be on site .
Good luck to you all and we hope you will again enjoy the Baildon hospitality and our iconic moorland course.
