RACE START - The race starts on Middleton Clearings, a 10 min walk away. There will be Marshalls and signs to direct you.
THE RACE - Our race is the longest at 9.03km (5.6 mile), starting with a mile loop around the clearings, then off into the woods. The usual, mud, tree roots and it's not flat. Listen to the Marshalls or follow the tape/signs. It has an elevation of 202m (663 ft), judging by my trail shoes it's somewhere between Northowram and Queensbury on mud level. The finish is a fast downhill so be kind to the guys taking numbers when you cross the line.

THE AFTERSHOW - Please come back to the Phoenix Bar afterwards, Food will be available from '3 Girls 1 Pineapple food truck' who will be doing their Breakfast menu. Dewsbury race details - 05/12/21

Here's the details of this year’s Dewsbury XC on 5th December at 10am:

RACE HQ is at Wheatley Park, Hagg Lane, Mirfield, WF14 8HE.
PARKING: as in previous years, car sharing is highly recommended. There is limited parking at race HQ. However, there are post race refreshments available at the Navigation Tavern (https://www.navigationtavern.co.uk/) so for those of you who will be going there (or those who cannot get into the car park) you should park on the roads around Station Road, Lowlands Road, Back Station Road and Hopton New Road which is a 5 minute walk to the start. There will be marshalls on site to direct you to the start from Station Road.
FACILITIES: the Navigation Tavern have kindly agreed to allow racegoers to use their toilets before the race. Racegoers are welcome to go to the Navigation after the race for refreshments, and we understand there will be an outside fire to help you warm up. Please ensure that any muddy footwear is removed before and after the race.
There will be some portaloos at the start area but there will be no changing facilities.
As with all other races this year, there will be no water at the finish, so please ensure you bring a drink with you.
THE ROUTE: the route is an almost flat (may not be true) 4.8 mile route. A route will be posted shortly. The eagle eyed of you may notice that we have had to alter the course slightly since 2019 which has resulted in less climbing (sorry about that).
The course will be muddy after the recent snow. As the route goes through Hagg Wood, and following Storm Arwen there may be some fallen branches, so take care. When the recce was done, there were areas which had dense areas of fallen leaves, which makes it very difficult to see where you are putting your feet. We ask that you all take extra care when going through those areas.
Runners will be going through farmers fields, and have been warned that there may be some cows roaming around. If you see any cows we’d suggest you mooo-ve around them. The local riding stables are aware of the event so there should not be any horses on the course, but keep an eye out for big galloping things.
Finally, as per previous events we have a cut off time of 35 minutes to reach the 2 mile marker. Anyone who does not get to the marker within that time will be re-directed to the start.
We can’t wait to see you all on Sunday. We hope you "enjoy" the race on Sunday.
